Dr Saman Perera ( MBBS, FRACGP, DCH)
Dr Saman is the principle doctor of Bay Islands Medical Service. He has special interests in the following areas of general practitioning,
- Prevention, early detection, treatment and complication prevention of chronic diseases specially diabetes, asthma/COPD, ischaemic heart disease/heart failure, osteoporosis and hepatitis C treatment.
- Skin checkups and skin cancer treatment, minor procedures including ingrown toe nail management, therapeutic venesection, eat toilet and management of outer ear infections, Iron infusion
- Mental Health Care (Medical Registered Focused Psychological Provider)
4 cancer screening and coordinated cancer( prostate cancer/bowel cancer/ breast cancer etc ) care with specialists
Dr Ali Vaezipour (MD,FRACGP)
Dr Ali works with Bayisland Islands Medical Services since 2013. He believes the continuation of care and doctor patient relationship is the most important aspect in primary health care to achieve good health out come.
He is specially trained in skin cancer care and promotes regular monitoring and skin cancer checks. He has special interest in chronic disease management, minor surgery, child health, mental health, men’s health and all aspects of primary health care including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
Dr Laurinda de Wytt (LRCP & SI, L.M ,DRCOG)
Dr Laurinda was one of the original owner of the practice and she continue s to give her service to the islanders for more than 20 years .
Her interests are geriatric medicine, palliative care, women’s health, mental health and chronic disease management.
Dr Nelum Perera ( MBBS, DCH-PAEDIATRICS, MD-PAEDIATRIC NEUROLOGY)
Dr Nelum Perera graduated from one of the leading medical faculty in Sri Lanka (University of Peradeniya) in 2005. Since then, she has been practising medicine for more than 14 years as a clinician and a GP. In the beginning, she mainly worked in the paediatric field and completed her specialist training and obtained her High Diploma (2009) and MD in (2012) in paediatric. And then, she received her paediatric neurology specialist training and worked as a fellow at; Lady Ridgeway Hospital Sri Lanka, Kings College Hospital in London and Lady Cilento Hospital in QLD. Upon completion of her training in 2017, Dr Perera commenced to work for the Greenslopes Private Hospital and gained work experience in a variety of specialties including general medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, gastroenterology, paediatrics, endocrinology, rural medicine and psychiatry enhanced the smooth transition to general practice in Australia.
Dr Nelum enjoys seeing patients from all walks of life for general medical care, with a particular interest in women’s health, antenatal care, child health, neurology and mental health.
